Mr. Coakley became interested in law in the early 1990s while a union steward and volunteer union organizer with the AFL-CIO street heat program. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Mr. Coakley was awarded the Bernard J. Seeman Scholarship at the University of Colorado, where he earned his law degree in 2002. Mr. Coakley started his legal career working with a small litigation boutique handling all manner of litigation, including class actions, construction law, contract disputes, employment disputes, consumer cases, and criminal defense work. Mr. Coakley then moved on to a national practice where he successfully represented real estate professionals, banks and mortgage companies in mediations, arbitrations, litigations and appeals in Colorado and throughout the United States. Mr. Coakley has broad experience in all aspects of litigation, mediation, arbitration, state and federal trial and appeal courts throughout the United States. Mr. Coakley also has volunteered as a voter protection attorney in state and federal elections, with LawLine 9, and is currently a member of the Civil Pro-bono panel for the U.S. District Court.

In 2013, Mr. Coakley decided to leave Wall Street behind and build a practice that represents the "Main Street” he grew up on - individuals and small and medium sized businesses in the community.

In his spare time, Mr. Coakley enjoys the outdoors with his family, playing and listening to music, baseball, cooking, and brewing beer.
